早期離乳と運動で守る牛の健康

記者「金内さんの牧場のこだわりについて教えてください。」

金内さん「うちの牧場のこだわりは2つあって、1つは牛の母子分離の早期離乳です。これは、子牛を早めに母牛から離すことで、事故の防止や病気の早期発見に繋がります。特に、子牛の健康状態をしっかり観察できるので、早期に対処できることが大きなメリットです。逆にデメリットとしては、母牛の乳が張っていてミルクを飲ませられない状態が続くため、身体に負担がかかります。しかし、獣医に診てもらうなど適切なケアと観察を行うことで、こうした問題を最小限に抑える努力をしています。」


記者「もう一つのこだわりは何ですか？」

金内さん「もう一つのこだわりは、牛をなるべく運動させることです。運動をすることで、牛の体調が良くなり、お産もスムーズになります。健康状態が向上することで、結果として事故の防止にも繋がっています。実際に新規就農して4年間でお産の事故は一度もありませんでした。」

記者「運動の具体的な方法について教えてください。」

金内さん「放牧場のような広い場所で、一定の時間を設けて牛を歩かせるようにしています。放牧を行うことで母牛の健康状態が向上し、お産が軽くなります。運動は牛にとって非常に重要で、これからも続けていきたいと思っています。」

Reporter: "Please tell us about the particularities of your farm, Kaneuchi-san."

Kaneuchi: "There are two particularities of our farm. The first is early weaning of calves from their mothers. By separating calves from their mothers early, this helps prevent accidents and detect illnesses early. In particular, the major advantage is that it allows us to closely observe the health of the calves, allowing us to deal with problems early. On the other hand, the disadvantage is that the mother cow's milk is engorged and she is unable to drink milk for a long time, which puts a strain on her body. However, we try to minimize these problems by providing appropriate care and observation, such as by having her examined by a veterinarian."


Reporter: "What is your other particularity? "

Kaneuchi: "Another thing I'm particular about is exercising the cows as much as possible. Exercise makes the cows feel better and makes birth easier. Improving their health also helps prevent accidents. In fact, in the four years since I started farming, I haven't had a single birth accident."


Reporter: "Please tell me the specific method of exercise."

Kaneuchi: "I set aside a certain amount of time in a large area like a pasture to let the cows walk. Grazing improves the health of the mother cows and makes birth easier. Exercise is very important for cows, and I want to continue doing it."

牛の健康は蹄から

記者「金内さんの牛の状態に点数をつけるならなんて言いますか？」

金内さん「そうですね、現在は1年1産ができていて、発情の観察も順調に行えています。これらの点から見て、100点中80点くらいでしょうか。また、先輩農家さんのアドバイスを受けながら競りで子牛を選べていることも評価ポイントです。良い子牛を選ぶことで、育成がスムーズになり、全体の品質向上に繋がっています。先輩方の経験や知識を活かすことで、より良い結果を出せています。」


記者「今後、その80点をプラス20点するためにどういったところが改善ポイントになるのでしょうか？」

金内さん「あと20点を達成するためには、牛の健康管理の徹底が必要です。特に、運動させているので足を怪我する牛が出てくることがあります。蹄の怪我や足の異常を早期に発見し、蹄の管理を頻繁に行うことで健康を維持します。理想的には半年に一度蹄の管理を行い、トラブルを未然に防ぐことが目標です。」


記者「蹄の怪我が発生するとどういった悪影響があるのでしょうか？」

金内さん「蹄の怪我がひどくなると、歩行が困難になり、最悪の場合は廃牛になる危険性があります。蹄が伸びすぎたり変形すると、足を痛めやすくなるため、早期発見と適切な管理が不可欠です。健康な状態を保ち、牛の寿命を延ばすことができます。」


記者「おすすめのアイテムや道具を教えてください。」

金内さん「おすすめのアイテムは削蹄保定枠です。これは、削蹄を行う際に非常に役立ちます。先輩のアドバイスを元に設計し、鉄工所で作ってもらいました。保定枠があることで作業の効率が上がり、牛の安全も確保できます。保定枠は、削蹄の際に牛を安全に固定できるメリットとは別に種付け時にも使うことがあり、種付けの成功率もぐっと上がります。作業中の事故防止や種付け改善のためにも、小規模の農家であっても固定枠を持つことを強くお勧めします。」

Reporter: "If you had to give a score to the condition of your cows, how would you rate them?"

Kaneuchi: "Well, currently they are giving birth once a year, and the heat observations are going well. From these points, I'd say they're about 80 out of 100. Another point that I appreciate is that they are able to select calves at auctions while receiving advice from senior farmers. By selecting good calves, the breeding process becomes smoother, which leads to improved overall quality. By utilizing the experience and knowledge of their seniors, they are able to achieve better results."


Reporter: "What areas do you think need to be improved in the future to add 20 points to that 80?"

Kaneuchi: "To achieve the remaining 20 points, thorough health management of the cows is necessary. In particular, because they are exercised, some cows may injure their feet. Early detection of hoof injuries and abnormalities in the feet and frequent hoof management will help maintain their health. Ideally, you should manage the hooves once every six months to prevent problems before they occur. Our goal is to make sure that the cow is healthy and healthy. ”


Reporter: “What are the negative effects of hoof injuries?”

Kaneuchi: “If hoof injuries become severe, it can become difficult for the cow to walk, and in the worst case scenario, the cow may be forced to retire. If the hoof becomes too long or deformed, it can easily injure its feet, so early detection and proper management are essential. This will help keep the cow healthy and extend its lifespan.”

Reporter: “What items and tools do you recommend?”

Kaneuchi: “The item I recommend is a hoof trimming restraining frame. This is extremely useful when trimming hooves. I designed it based on the advice of my senior and had it made at a metalworking factory. The restraining frame increases work efficiency and ensures the safety of the cow. In addition to the benefit of being able to safely secure the cow during hoof trimming, the restraining frame can also be used during breeding, which significantly increases the success rate of breeding. In order to prevent accidents during work and improve breeding, I strongly recommend that even small-scale farmers have a restraining frame.”

1つのことを極め抜く！

記者「師匠や目標にしている方を教えてください。」

金内さん「私が尊敬している人は大石啓介さんです。大石さんは、私が農業を始める前に研修をさせていただいた農家さんで、最初に牛のことを教えてくださった方です。今でも最も頼りにしている存在です。」


記者「大石さんはどのような方でしょうか？」

金内さん「大石さんは非常に優しくて、牛のことに対してとことん真面目で向上心があります。現状に満足せず、常に改善を追求する姿勢を持っています。とても話しやすく、相談もしやすいです。」


記者「大石さんの実績や周りからの評価について教えてください。」

金内さん「大石さんは鷹島で最も多くの繁殖牛を持ち、競りに出す頭数も平戸市場でも最大です。競りでの成績も優秀で、他の農家や買い手からの評価も非常に高いです。特に子牛の管理に関しては非常に細かく、観察、餌やりのタイミング、回数などにすごくこだわっており、質の良い大きな子牛を育て上げています。」


記者「座右の銘を教えてください。」

金内さん「私の座右の銘は『一意専心』です。これは一つのことに専念するという意味で、牛に専念しようという考えを持っています。ここ数年で牛の価格が下がり、経営が苦しい時期もありましたが、畜産を続けることに専念しています。価格は下がっても、将来上がる時が来ると信じて、今は牛のことを考えてやれるだけのことをやっています。」


記者「今後の目標や挑戦したいことは何ですか？」

金内さん「今は新規就農者として計画達成を目指し、その後は規模拡大をしていきたいです。最終的には先輩たちを越えられるような牛飼いになりたいと思っています。」

Reporter: "Please tell us about your mentor and role model."

Kaneuchi: "The person I respect is Oishi Keisuke. Before I started farming, I trained with Oishi-san, and he was the first person to teach me about cattle. Even now, I rely on him the most."


Reporter: "What kind of person is Oishi-san?"

Kaneuchi: "Oishi-san is very kind, and is extremely serious and ambitious about cattle. He is never satisfied with the status quo, and is always striving to improve. He is very easy to talk to and consult with."


Reporter: "Please tell us about Oishi-san's achievements and how others evaluate him."

Kaneuchi: "Oishi-san has the most breeding cattle in Takashima, and he auctions the most cattle at Hirado Market. He has excellent results at auctions, and is highly regarded by other farmers and buyers. He is particularly meticulous when it comes to managing his calves, paying close attention to observation, timing and frequency of feeding, and raising large, high-quality calves.


Reporter: "What is your motto?"

Kaneuchi: "My motto is 'single-minded devotion.' This means concentrating on one thing, and I want to concentrate on cattle. The price of cattle has fallen in recent years, and there have been times when business has been difficult, but I am dedicated to continuing livestock farming. Even if the price falls, I believe that it will rise in the future, and for now I am doing everything I can to think about the cattle."

Kaneuchi: "Right now, as a new farmer, I want to achieve my plan, and then expand my scale. Ultimately, I want to become a cattle farmer who can surpass my seniors."

削蹄保定枠は削蹄作業の効率を上げ、牛の安全を確保するために設計されたもので、先輩のアドバイスを元に鉄工所で作成しました。削蹄時の牛の固定に加え、種付け時にも活用でき、成功率を向上させます。事故防止や作業効率向上のため、小規模農家でも保定枠を持っていた方がいいと話していました。
