記者「北野さんの牧場で採用されている独自の技術について教えていただけますか？」

北野さん「私たちの牧場では、特に分娩間隔を最適化しています。分娩間隔を短縮することで年間の子牛の出荷数を増やし、生産性を向上させています。これを実現するために、「ファームノート」を利用して緻密に発情期を管理し、見逃しのないように徹底しています。また、当たり前のことですが育成期間中の体調管理も重視しており、病気の早期発見・治療に努めています。」


記者「牧場での観察点についてもう少し具体的に教えてください。日常的にどのようなサインを重視しているのですか？」

北野さん「健康管理においては、一般的によく言われるポイントである耳の状態や鼻水、咳といった明確な健康指標を日々チェックしています。特に、餌食いに変化がないかを観察することが重要です。これにより、牛が健康であるかどうかを評価し、必要に応じて迅速に対応します。」


記者「発情の観察についてはどのような方法で行っているのですか？」

北野さん「発情期には尻尾の付け根のしぐさや行動の変化に特に注意を払います。餌をやる前後での観察を徹底しており、発情が見逃されることなく、適切な時期に人工授精が行えるよう配慮しています。これが全体の生産効率を大きく左右します。」


記者「牧場での育成プロセスについて、特にキャトルセンターへの移送前の管理にどのような工夫を凝らしているか教えてください。」

北野さん「5ヶ月齢から出荷までの期間に、キャトルセンターへ移送するのですが、その前の牛の管理には特に力を入れています。健康状態や成長具合を精密に監視し、最適な状態でセンターに送るよう心がけています。体調が悪い個体は早期に特定し、集中的なケアを施すことで、全体の出荷量と品質の向上を図っています。」

Reporter: "Could you tell us about the unique technology used at your farm?"

Kitano: "At our farm, we particularly optimize the calving intervals. By shortening the calving intervals, we increase the number of calves shipped per year and improve productivity. To achieve this, we use "Farm Note" to meticulously manage the estrus period and are thorough in not missing anything. Also, although it goes without saying, we place importance on managing the health of the cows during the breeding period and strive to detect and treat illnesses early. "


Reporter: "Could you please tell me more specifically about the observations you make at the farm? What signs do you pay attention to on a daily basis?"

Kitano: "When it comes to health management, we check the ear condition, runny nose, coughing, and other clear health indicators on a daily basis, which are commonly mentioned points. It is especially important to observe whether there are any changes in feeding habits. This allows us to evaluate whether the cows are healthy and take prompt action if necessary."


Reporter: "How do you observe estrus?"

Kitano: "During estrus, we pay particular attention to the movements at the base of the tail and changes in behavior. We thoroughly observe before and after feeding, so that estrus is not overlooked and artificial insemination can be performed at the appropriate time. This greatly affects the overall production efficiency."


Reporter: "Please tell us about the breeding process at the farm, and especially about the ingenuity you put into management before transportation to the cattle center."

Kitano: "From the age of 5 months until shipping, the cows are transported to the cattle center, but we put a lot of effort into managing the cows before that. We closely monitor their health and growth, and try to send them to the center in the best possible condition. If they are in good health, By identifying poor individuals early and providing intensive care, we aim to improve the overall shipping volume and quality. ”

餌カットで健康を切り開く！

記者「北野さん、牧場での牛の状態を点数化するとしたら、どのような評価になりますか？」

北野さん「現在の状態を75点と評価しています。一部の母牛の受胎率や子牛の健康状態に課題があるためです。受胎の成功率が低い一部の母牛の中には3回以上種をつける牛もいます。病気が発症した子牛の発見が遅れがちです。これらの点が主な減点要因ですが、改善に向けて取り組んでいます。」

記者「その75点を100点にするためには、どのような改善が必要だと考えていますか？」

北野さん「改善点としては、個体ごとの管理を強化することが最も重要です。特に、母牛には追加の栄養補給を行い、痩せの問題を解決したいですね。また、病気の早期発見と対応の速度を上げることで、全体の健康管理を向上させることが求められます。これらの取り組みを進めることで、総合的な評価を高めることができると考えています。」


記者「牧場で役立っているアイテムや道具について教えてください。」

北野さん「牧場で非常に役立っているのはベールカッターです。これは大型の餌のロールを適切なサイズにカットし、牛が食べやすくするための機械です。均等に餌を配分できるため、牛が健康に育ちやすくなります。牧草をカットしていないと大きな個体が横の牛のエサまで引っ張って食べてしまい痩せた牛を作ってしまう原因になってしまうのでこのカッティングは非常に重要です。手作業での餌分配よりも効率的で、餌のばらつきを減らすことができるため、全体的な牛の健康管理に寄与しています。」

Reporter: “Kitano-san, if you were to give a score to the condition of the cows at your farm, how would you rate it?”

Kitano: “We rate the current condition at 75 points. This is because there are issues with the conception rate of some of the mother cows and the health of the calves. Some of the mother cows with low conception success rates are bred three or more times. We tend to delay in discovering sick calves. These are the main reasons for the points being deducted, but we are working to improve them.”


Reporter: “If we were to reduce that 75 points to 10 points, What improvements do you think are necessary to get a score of 0? ”

Kitano: “The most important thing to improve is to strengthen the management of each individual cow. In particular, I would like to provide additional nutrition to mother cows to solve the problem of thinness. In addition, it is necessary to improve overall health management by increasing the speed of early detection and response to illness. I think that by promoting these efforts, we can improve the overall evaluation.”


Reporter: “Please tell us about the items and tools that are useful at the ranch.”

Kitano: “A bale cutter is very useful at the ranch. This is a machine that cuts large feed rolls to the appropriate size to make them easier for cows to eat. It distributes the feed evenly, making it easier for the cows to grow up healthy. If the grass is not cut, large individuals will pull the feed of the cow next to them and eat it, which will cause the cows to become thin, so this cutting is very important. It is more efficient than manual feed distribution and reduces feed variation, contributing to overall cow health management. "

未来へのステップ：師匠との出会いから学ぶ

記者「北野さん、あなたが師匠や目標にしている方について教えてください。」

北野さん「私が尊敬しているのは、農大卒業後に1年研修した肥前町の農家さんです。その方の熱心な取り組みには本当に感銘を受けました。」


記者「その方の具体的な取り組みで、特に学んだ点はありますか？」

北野さん「そこの牧場では牛が非常に大きく、また母体の選畜にも長けていて収益性の高い牛を見極めるところはいつも勉強になっています。また牛が清潔であり、餌を十分に食べることができるよう、非常にきれいな環境を維持されています。それに、牛舎の管理も徹底しており、常に牛の状態に手をかけることを怠らない姿勢もすごく刺激を受けています。」


記者「北野さんの座右の銘についても教えてください。」

北野さん「私の座右の銘は『今を大事に』です。現在の肉牛市場の厳しい状況の中ですが、今しかできないことというのはたくさんあると思っています。今できることを精一杯やって、後悔を残さないようにしていきたいです。今取り組んでいることとしては受精卵移植があります。育種価を見ながらより最適な種付けが実現できるよう受精卵移植を通して将来の牛舎の改善につなげたいと思っています。」

Reporter: "Kitano-san, please tell us about your mentor and role model."

Kitano: "I respect a farmer in Hizen Town, where I trained for a year after graduating from the University of Agriculture. I was really impressed by his enthusiastic approach."


Reporter: "Is there anything in particular that you learned from his specific approach?"

Kitano: "The cows on that farm are very large, and they are also skilled at selecting the mother cows, so I always learn a lot from how they identify the most profitable cows. They also maintain a very clean environment so that the cows are clean and have enough to eat. They also manage the cowsheds thoroughly, and always check the condition of the cows. I am also very inspired by his attitude of never neglecting to put in the effort."


Reporter: "Please tell us your motto."

Kitano: "My motto is 'cherish the present.' In the current tough situation in the beef cattle market, I think there are many things that can only be done now. I want to do my best with what I can do now and avoid any regrets. One of the things I am working on now is embryo transfer. I would like to use embryo transfer to improve the future of the cowshed so that more optimal insemination can be achieved while looking at the breeding value."

大きな餌のロールを牛が食べやすいサイズに切り分け、均一に餌を分配することが可能なため大きな牛が隣の餌を奪う心配もなく虚弱な牛を排出するリスクを低減させることができます。
手動での餌分配よりも効率的で、餌の不均等を減らし、牛の全体的な健康管理に貢献しているそうです
