ICTと手のぬくもりが育む、未来の牛たち

記者「稲本さんが牛を育てる上でこだわっている一家伝来の技術や最近得た情報、専門的な知識について教えていただけますか？」

稲本さん「私たちは代々伝わる育牛技術に、最新の知見を取り入れることで、より質の高い牛の育成に励んでいます。特に、超早期に母子を分離し、60日で離乳させる手法を取り入れ、その後は牧草中心のエサに切り替えることで、健康で強い牛を育てることにこだわっています。獣医と連携し、予防接種プログラムを徹底しており、各種ワクチンや予防薬を使用して、牛の健康管理にも力を入れています。」


記者「その育成技術についてもう少し詳しく教えていただけますか？」

稲本さん「私たちは、子牛が早期にしっかりと栄養を取り入れることができるよう、スターターを積極的に与えています。5ヶ月齢を過ぎた後は、濃厚飼料を減らし、牧草を主体にしたエサに切り替え、より自然に近い環境での育成を心がけています。また、獣医との密接な協力のもと、ボビバック、TSV3、バイコックスなどのワクチンや、必要に応じてドラクシンといった抗生剤、駆虫剤のイベルメクチンを使用し、牛の健康を守っています。」


記者「最新技術の導入によって、具体的な成果や改善点はありましたか？」

稲本さん「実際、ICT技術の活用、特にファームノートの導入により、牛の管理が飛躍的に向上しました。日々のデータをもとに発情の早期発見や、種付けの最適なタイミングの判断が容易になり、管理漏れが大幅に減少。かつては手書きのメモに頼っていたのが信じられないほどです。結果として、分娩間隔が11.5ヶ月という理想に近いサイクルを達成しています。」

Reporter: "Could you tell us about the family's techniques that you are particular about when raising cattle, and any information or expertise you have recently acquired?"

Inamoto: "We are working hard to raise higher quality cattle by incorporating the latest knowledge into the cattle-raising techniques that have been passed down for generations. In particular, we are particular about raising healthy and strong cattle by separating mothers and calves at an extremely early stage and weaning them at 60 days, and then switching to a diet mainly made up of grass. We work with veterinarians to implement a thorough vaccination program, and we also focus on managing the health of our cattle by using various vaccines and preventive drugs."

Reporter: "Could you tell us more about your breeding techniques?"

Inamoto: "We actively feed calves starter so that they can take in nutrients early and properly. After they reach the age of five months, We have reduced the amount of concentrated feed and switched to a diet mainly made up of pasture, and strive to raise our cattle in a more natural environment. In addition, in close cooperation with veterinarians, we protect the health of our cattle by administering vaccines such as Bobivac, TSV3, and Baycox, as well as antibiotics such as Draxin and the deworming drug Ivermectin when necessary. ”

Reporter: “Have you seen any concrete results or improvements as a result of introducing the latest technology?”

Inamoto: “Indeed, the use of ICT technology, especially the introduction of Farmnote, has dramatically improved our cattle management. It has become easier to detect estrus early and determine the optimal timing for insemination based on daily data, and management oversights have been greatly reduced. It is hard to believe that we used to rely on handwritten notes. As a result, we have achieved a nearly ideal calving interval of 11.5 months.”

質と生産性の向上へ

記者「自分の牛の状態に点数をつけるとしたら、何点になりますか？」

稲本さん「正直なところ、70点くらいでしょうか。まだ改善の余地が多く、特に分娩間隔を現在の11.5ヶ月から11ヶ月に縮め、生産性を高めたいと考えています。生産数の増加を目指しているのですが、メスの質不足や高齢牛の更新の遅れなど、解決すべき課題も多いですね。」


記者「それでは、現状の課題を乗り越えるために、今後どのような取り組みを考えていますか？」

稲本さん「まずは、メスの発育DG（1日あたりの平均増体量）を改善させることと、生産効率を高めるための戦略を練ることが重要です。分娩間隔を短縮し、年間を通じて安定して子牛を生産できる体制の構築を目指しています。また、高齢牛の効率的な更新計画を立て、全体の生産性の向上に努めたいと思います。これらの課題に対処することで、総合的な品質と生産数の向上を目指します。」


記者「稲本さんのおすすめの道具やアイテムがあれば教えてください。」

稲本さん「私は削蹄師なので、削蹄に関するものなのですが、軽トラックに直接取り付けしている削蹄保定枠がオススメアイテムです。これは、削蹄の際に牛舎によっては牛を繋ぐ場所がない牛舎もあります。そういう場所であっても牛を繋いで削蹄できるようにするためのもので、持ち運びが容易で、場所を選ばずに仕事ができる点が大きなメリットです。この保定枠のおかげで、効率的に牛の策定作業ができるようになりました。」

Reporter: "If you had to rate the condition of your cows, how many points would you give them?"

Inamoto: "Honestly, I'd say about 70 points. There is still a lot of room for improvement, and in particular, we would like to shorten the calving interval from the current 11.5 months to 11 months and increase productivity. We are aiming to increase production, but there are many issues to be resolved, such as a lack of quality females and a delay in replacing older cows."

Reporter: "So, what kind of efforts are you considering in the future to overcome the current challenges?"

Inamoto: "First of all, it is important to improve the developmental DG (average daily gain) of females and to devise a strategy to increase production efficiency. We aim to shorten the calving interval and build a system that can produce calves stably throughout the year. We are also working to improve overall productivity by developing an efficient replacement plan for older cows. By addressing these issues, we aim to improve overall quality and production numbers. ”

Reporter: “Please tell us if you have any recommended tools or items, Mr. Inamoto.”

Inamoto: “I am a hoof trimmer, so I recommend the hoof trimming restraint frame that is attached directly to a light truck. Some barns do not have a place to tie up the cows when trimming their hooves. This is to tie up the cows and make it possible to trim their hooves even in such places, and its great advantage is that it is easy to carry and can be used anywhere. Thanks to this restraint frame, we can now work on the cows more efficiently.”

「まだまだこれから」広がる可能性

記者「稲本さんにとっての師匠や、目標としている人物について教えていただけますか？」

稲本さん「私にとっての師匠は、残念ながら亡くなられた稲本誠さんです。彼は鷹島地区のリーダー的存在で、牛飼いの中でも特に尊敬される人物でした。兄貴分でもあり、親戚でもある彼は、私が農協で勤めていた時からの知り合いで、彼のおかげで私も牛飼いを始めることができました。彼は機械操作など、多くの技術的な知識も教えてくれ、見たことのないような新しい技術や情報を提供してくれました。」

記者「誠さんの人柄についてもう少し詳しく教えてください。」

稲本さん「誠さんは、本当に優しくて、前向きな人でした。決して嫌なことを言うことがなく、必要なアドバイスは的確に、しかし優しく教えてくれるような人でした。私だけでなく、多くの人が彼に頼り、尊敬していました。彼の死は、私たちコミュニティにとって大きな損失でしたが、彼のようにみんなに頼られる存在になれればと思っています。」


記者「最後に、稲本さんがこれからも忘れずにいたい、座右の銘や心に留めておくべき言葉があれば教えてください。」

稲本さん「私の座右の銘は、「まだまだこれから」です。どんなに困難な状況でも、まだまだ改善できる点はあるし、挑戦すべきことはたくさんあります。私たちの牧場では、現在、繁殖をメインにしていますが、これからは生産活動の範囲を広げ肥育への展開、受精卵移植技術の取得などにも挑戦していきたいと考えています。実際に今現在、経産肥育にはチャレンジし始めています。この座右の銘を胸に、牧場の規模拡大や収益性向上を目指して、日々の業務に取り組んでいきます。経済的な負担や技術的な困難はありますが、「まだまだこれから」の精神で乗り越えていきたいと思います。」

Reporter: "Could you tell us about your mentor and the person you aspire to be?"

Inamoto: "My mentor was Makoto Inamoto, who unfortunately passed away. He was a leader in the Takashima area and was especially respected among cattle farmers. He was like an older brother to me and a relative, and I knew him from when I worked at the agricultural cooperative, and thanks to him I was able to start cattle farming. He taught me a lot of technical knowledge, such as how to operate machines, and provided me with new techniques and information that I had never seen before."

Reporter: "Could you tell me more about Makoto's personality? "

Inamoto: "Makoto was a really kind and positive person. He never said anything unpleasant, and he was the kind of person who would give you the necessary advice accurately but gently. Not only me, but many people relied on and respected him. His death was a great loss for our community, but I hope I can become someone that everyone can rely on like him."

Reporter: "Finally, please tell us if there is a motto or words that Inamoto would like to remember from now on."

Inamoto: "My motto is, 'There is still a long way to go.' No matter how difficult the situation, there are still many things that can be improved and many challenges to be taken on. Currently, our farm is mainly breeding, but from now on we would like to expand the scope of our production activities and expand into fattening, acquire fertilized egg transplantation techniques, and so on. In fact, we are currently starting to challenge ourselves with pasture fattening. With this motto in mind, we will work on our daily tasks with the aim of expanding the scale of the farm and improving profitability. There are financial burdens and technical difficulties, but we would like to overcome them with the spirit of 'There is still a long way to go.'"

削蹄保定枠

削蹄する際に農家によっては牛を繋ぐ場所がない牛舎があり作業が難航する場合があるそうですが、稲本さんの使っている軽トラックに直接取り付けしている削蹄保定枠では、場所を選ばずに仕事ができるそうで大変重宝していると話していました。持ち運びも容易で作業効率が格段に上がったそうです。
