データと牧草で育む手法

記者「中村さんの農場では、どのような技術を用いて生産効率の向上を図っていますか？」

中村さん「私たちの牧場では、最先端のファームノートというアプリを導入し、データ管理を徹底しています。このおかげで受胎率の向上や生産サイクルの最適化を実現しました。具体的には、牛が出産後、迅速にスタンチョンへ移動させ、産後の管理を厳密に行っております。さらに、アプリによるデータ追跡で、産後60～70日で人工授精が可能な状態を、目で見て数値で把握できるようになりました。これらの技術革新により、年間の受胎率を上げ、生産頭数の増加に成功しています。」


記者「生産サイクルの改善によって、具体的にどのような成果がありましたか？」

中村さん「この技術の導入により、驚くべき成果を上げています。たとえば、アプリを使用することで、牛の状態をリアルタイムで確認でき、生産サイクルの効率化を図ることが可能になりました。さらに、過去最高と言える出生率を記録し、昨年は特に多くの子牛が生まれました。50頭の親牛から、46頭の子牛が生まれ、これは過去最高の成績です。これらの成果は、技術の力を借りて、緻密な管理と計画を行った結果です。」


記者「中村さんの農場では、飼料の管理にも特別な工夫があると聞きましたが、その内容を教えてください。」

中村さん「私たちは飼料の管理にも独自の工夫を凝らしています。特に注目したいのが、草の量です。一般的な農場よりも多めに草を与えており、その量は通常の105cmロールの約3分の2に相当します。朝夕の餌やりで30頭の牛に対してこれを一度に与えています。この豊富な飼料は牛たちの健康に非常に良い影響を与えており、質の高い牧草を刻まずに与えることで、親牛の健康維持にも寄与しています。一方、子牛には品質の高い一番草を刻んで提供し、栄養価の高い食事を確保しています。」

Reporter: "What kind of technology is Nakamura using at your farm to improve production efficiency?"

Nakamura: "At our farm, we have introduced a cutting-edge app called Farmnote, and we are thoroughly managing data. Thanks to this, we have improved our conception rate and optimized our production cycle. Specifically, after a cow gives birth, we move her quickly to a stanchion and strictly manage her after birth. Furthermore, by tracking data using the app, we can visually and numerically determine when artificial insemination is possible 60 to 70 days after birth. These technological innovations have increased our annual conception rate and our production numbers. We have been successful in increasing the number of calves.”

Reporter: “What specific results have you seen by improving the production cycle?”

Nakamura: “By introducing this technology, we have achieved amazing results. For example, by using the app, we can check the condition of the cows in real time, which has made it possible to improve the efficiency of the production cycle. Furthermore, we have recorded a record-high birth rate, with many calves being born last year. 46 calves were born from 50 parent cows, which is the best result ever. These results are the result of meticulous management and planning, with the help of technology.”


Reporter: "I heard that Nakamura's farm has special methods for managing feed. Could you tell us about them?"

Nakamura: "We also use our own unique methods for managing feed. One thing I want to draw attention to is the amount of grass. We give more grass than average farms, and the amount is about two-thirds of a normal 105cm roll. We feed this to 30 cows at a time during morning and evening feedings. This abundant feed has a very positive effect on the health of the cows, and by feeding them high-quality grass without chopping it, we also contribute to maintaining the health of the parent cows. On the other hand, we feed the calves with high-quality grass. We chop the grass first and serve it to them, ensuring a nutritious meal."

質高き牧草への追求

記者「自分の牛の状態に点数をつけるとしたら、どの程度ですか？」

中村さん「私たちの牧場では、現在の牛たちの状態を大体70点ぐらいと見ています。これは決して悪くはないですが、最高とも言えません。50頭の規模でこの点数をつけていますが、これはまだ改善の余地があるということ。60点、50点だと少し低すぎますし、70点ならば今後も牛を増やしていく上での目安になります。」


記者「70点という評価にした理由は何ですか？」

中村さん「この評価は、現在の生産性や牛たちの健康状態を踏まえたものです。3、4年前に質の悪い粗飼料を与えたことで親牛を失った経験もあり、良質な牧草の重要性を改めて認識しました。そのため、より良い牧草を確保し、継続的に良質な飼料を与えていることが、この70点の理由です。」


記者「100点を目指すためには、どのような取り組みが必要だと思いますか？」

中村さん「100点に近づけるためには、今後も良質な牧草を確保し続けることが最も重要です。質の高い粗飼料を与え続けることで、牛たちの健康を守り、生産性を向上させることができます。また、悪い牧草を与えると病気のリスクが高まるため、常に質に注意を払う必要があります。タイミングを見計らって最適な条件で牧草を収穫することを心がけ100点に近づけていきたいです。」


記者「おすすめのアイテムや道具はありますか？」

中村さん「はい、実は牧草を扱う際に、幅広ホークを活用しています。特に、床を変える作業で通常のスコップでは地面が固くて難しいところを、幅広ホークを使うことで簡単にできるようになりました。また、子牛の誤嚥防止には、マミーズマンマプラスという特殊な哺乳器具を使用しています。これは乳首のリーチを短くし、誤嚥のリスクを減らすことができるため、子牛の健康管理に非常に役立っています。」

Reporter: "If you had to rate the condition of your cows, how would you rate it?"

Nakamura: "At our farm, we rate the current condition of our cows at about 70 points. That's not bad, but it's not the best either. We're giving it this score for a group of 50 cows, but it means there's still room for improvement. 60 or 50 points would be a bit too low, and 70 points would be a good indicator for increasing the number of cows in the future."

Reporter: "Why did you rate it 70 points? "

Nakamura: "This rating is based on the current productivity and health of the cows. Three or four years ago, I lost a cow because I fed it poor quality roughage, and this made me realize the importance of good quality pasture. That's why we've secured better pasture and continue to feed it good quality feed, which is why we've given it 70 points."


Reporter: "What efforts do you think are necessary to aim for 100 points?"

Nakamura: "To get closer to 100 points, it's most important to continue securing good quality pasture. By continuing to feed it high quality roughage, we can protect the health of the cows. , which can improve productivity. Also, feeding poor quality grass increases the risk of disease, so you need to pay attention to the quality at all times. I want to harvest the grass at the best possible time and get as close to 100 points as possible. ”


Reporter: “Are there any items or tools you would recommend?”

Nakamura: “Yes, actually, when handling grass, I use a wide fork. In particular, when changing the floor, the ground is hard and difficult to use with a normal shovel, but by using the wide fork, it has become easier. Also, to prevent calves from swallowing food, we use Mummy’s Mamma Plus and We use a special feeding device called a "feeding device." This shortens the reach of the nipple and reduces the risk of aspiration, which is extremely useful for managing the health of calves. "

見守り続ける心

記者「師匠や目標にしている方はいらっしゃいますか？」

中村さん「近所の池上さんという方がいます。彼の牛舎は非常に効率的に作られており、少ない労力で運営できるようになっています。池上さんの牛舎を見て、作業のやりやすさや、牛舎が綺麗であること、そしてもちろん成績の良さに感銘を受けました。彼のような効率的で先進的な牛舎運営を目指しています。」


記者「効率的な牛舎構造とは具体的にどのようなものですか？」

中村さん「効率的な牛舎構造とは、例えば機械を用いて糞尿を容易に取り除ける設計など、人の手を最小限に抑えて作業ができるようにすることです。池上さんの牛舎では、古い牛舎のように多くの手間がかからず、機械だけで効率的に管理できるようになっています。このような構造を見て、私も同様のシステムを取り入れることを考えています。」


記者「最後に、中村さんの座右の銘を教えてください。」

中村さん「私の座右の銘は「頻繁に観察」です。牛舎には監視カメラを取り付けており、スマホやパソコンからいつでも牛の様子を見ることができます。また、趣味であるゲームをプレイする際も、モニターの横で牛舎の様子を常にチェックしています。これにより、発情や分娩などの重要な瞬間を見逃さず、適切なタイミングで介入できるようにしています。この習慣が、私たちの牧場での成功には欠かせない要素です。」

Reporter: "Do you have a mentor or someone you look up to?"

Nakamura: "There's a guy named Ikegami who lives nearby. His cowshed is very efficient and can be run with very little effort. When I saw Ikegami's cowshed, I was impressed by how easy it was to work in, how clean it was, and of course how well he did. I want to aim to run an efficient and advanced cowshed like him. "


Reporter: "What exactly is an efficient barn structure?"

Nakamura: "An efficient barn structure is one that allows work to be done with minimal human intervention, such as a design that allows manure to be easily removed using machinery. Ikegami's barn does not require much effort, as in the old barn, and can be managed efficiently using only machinery. Seeing this structure, I am thinking of adopting a similar system."

Reporter: "Finally, what is your motto, Nakamura?"

Nakamura: "My motto is 'observe frequently.' We have security cameras installed in the barn, so we can check on the cows at any time from our smartphones or computers. Also, when I play games, which is my hobby, I always check the barn's situation next to the monitor. This allows me to not miss important moments such as estrus and birth, and to intervene at the right time. This habit is essential to the success of our ranch."

毎年年間1～2件ほど誤嚥で死んでしまう子牛がいましたがこれを使いだして誤嚥トラブルが減ったそうです。
