半煮えの秘密

記者「井さんの牧場で他の人が知らないような特別な技術や工夫をお持ちですか？」

井さん「はい、実はうちの牧場では子牛の餌の「半煮え」調理法があります。これは親父から受け継いだもので、主にとうきび、麦、ふすまなどを混ぜ合わせて、沸騰したお湯をかけ、冷却してから子牛に与えるんです。この方法を使うと、子牛の成長が早く、通常よりも20%早く仕上がるんですよ。」


記者「「半煮え」とはどのような状態を指すのですか？」

井さん「半煮えとは、餌を部分的に煮ることを意味しています。この方法では餌の栄養素が最大限に引き出され、子牛にとって非常に消化しやすくなります。他の農家はこの手法をあまり使わないんですが、手間をかける価値はあると私は確信しています。」


記者「その半煮え餌を与えると、牛にどのような変化が見られるのですか？」

井さん「半煮え餌を食べると、子牛は目に見えて成長します。特に、毛艶が良くなる、発情が早く来る、体が大きくなるなどの効果があります。これは栄養の吸収が効率的になるためで、私たちの技術によって子牛の健康と成長が格段に向上するんです。」


記者「それ以外に井さんの牧場で行う特殊な作業はどのようなものがありますか？」

井さん「牛の角切りですかね。角切りについては、放牧する牛に限って行っています。放牧中の牛同士での争いを避けるためですね。しかし、放牧しない牛は角を切らないことが多いです。角を切る時は専門家を呼んで手伝ってもらっていますが、牛にとってはかなりのストレスです。血が出るので、強めに包帯で巻いて処置しています。翌日には止まっているので包帯を解いてあげるというのがうち牧場のやり方です。」

Reporter: "Do you have any special techniques or ideas on your farm that other people don't know about?"

I: "Yes, actually, at our farm we have a method of cooking calf feed that is "half-cooked." This is something I inherited from my father, and we mix mainly corn, wheat, bran, etc., pour boiling water over it, cool it, and then feed it to the calves. Using this method, the calves grow faster, and are finished 20% faster than usual."

Reporter: "What do you mean by 'half-cooked'?" "

I: "Half-cooked means that the feed is partially cooked. This method extracts the maximum nutrients from the feed and makes it very easy for calves to digest. Other farmers don't use this method very often, but I'm convinced that it's worth the effort."

Reporter: "What changes do you see in the cows when you feed them half-cooked feed?"

I: "When calves eat half-cooked feed, they visibly grow. In particular, their coats become shinier, they come into heat earlier, and they grow bigger. This is because they absorb nutrients more efficiently, and our technology allows us to do just that. The health and growth of the calves improves dramatically."

Reporter: "Any other special work you do at your ranch?"

I: "Dehorning the cows, I guess. We only dehorn the cows that are allowed to graze. This is to prevent fights between the cows while they're free-ranging. However, cows that aren't allowed to graze often don't have their horns cut. We call in experts to help us when dehorning, but it's very stressful for the cows. They bleed, so we bandage them tightly. The bleeding stops by the next day, so we remove the bandages. That's the way it is at our ranch. "

牧場の誇り：80点の挑戦と献身

記者「井さんの牧場に点数をつけるなら、何点になるでしょうか？」

井さん「うちの牧場は80点ぐらいでしょうか。実は何年か放牧をしていなかった結果、ダニの問題が自然に解消されました。放牧しないと1年でダニがいなくなるんですね。それに、私たちの飼育方法も牧場の評価に一役買っています。」


記者「残りの20点を上乗せするためには、どういった改善が必要ですか？」

井さん「プラス20点を目指すためには、私たちの飼育方法をさらに改善する必要があります。現在、私たちは限られた人手で最善を尽くしていますが、より大規模な飼育には挑戦していません。今後は、飼料の管理方法や放牧の改良に取り組んでいくことで、さらなる高評価を目指したいと思います。」


記者「井さんが尊敬している畜産業界の大先輩や師匠はいますか？」

井さん「はい、この近くに鶴吉さんという大先輩がいて、私は彼を非常に尊敬しています。彼は質の高い牛を育てることに専念しており、自分の時間も大切にしながら牛の放牧や飼育に取り組んでいます。また、牛の塩分不足を補うためにも力を入れており、その献身的な姿勢は私たちにとって大きな刺激になっています。」

Reporter: "If you were to give your farm a score, how many points would you give it?"

I: "I'd give it about 80 points. In fact, we didn't graze the cattle for a few years, and the tick problem naturally went away. If you don't graze the cattle, the mites will disappear in a year. Also, our breeding methods play a part in the evaluation of the farm."

Reporter: "What improvements do you need to make to get the remaining 20 points?"

I: "To get an extra 20 points, we need to further improve our breeding methods. Right now, we are doing our best with the limited manpower we have. We have some experience, but we have not attempted larger-scale farming. In the future, we would like to work on improving our feed management methods and grazing, and aim for even higher ratings. ”

Reporter: “Is there a senior or mentor in the livestock industry that you respect?”

I: “Yes, there is a senior named Tsuruyoshi nearby, and I respect him very much. He is dedicated to raising high-quality cattle, and he works on grazing and raising cattle while valuing his own time. He also works hard to make up for the salt deficiency in cattle, and his dedicated attitude is a great inspiration to us. "

牛に愛を、農家に希望を

井さん「新規就農者の皆さんへ、畜産は一歩一歩の努力が必要な仕事です。私も若い頃、親の後を継ぎ、一流の牛を育てる夢を追い求めました。最終的には、自分の努力が実を結び、優秀な種牛を作ることができました。成功の秘訣は、常に牛に愛情を注ぐことです。言葉をかけ、愛情を持って丁寧に育てる。これが、良質な牛を育てるための鍵です。」


記者「それでは、井さんの座右の銘は何ですか？」

井さん「私の座右の銘は「毎日愛情を注ぐこと」です。畜産業において、牛に対する愛情は非常に大切です。愛情を持って育てられた牛は、その質が高まり、結果として優れた成績を残すことができます。私が"鶴重川"という種牛の育成に成功したのも牛に対する愛情無くしては成し遂げられなかったでしょう。愛情を注ぐことが、最終的には牛の品質を高め、私たちの仕事においても大きな価値を生むのです。」

I: "To all new farmers, livestock farming is a job that requires effort, one step at a time. When I was young, I followed in my parents' footsteps and pursued the dream of raising first-class cattle. I: "My motto is 'show love every day.' In the livestock industry, love for cattle is very important. Cattle raised with love will have higher quality and will ultimately achieve excellent results. I would not have been able to successfully raise the breeding bull "Tsurushigegawa" without love for cattle. Showing love ultimately improves the quality of the cattle and creates great value in our work. "
