記者「永田さんの牧場のこだわりについて教えてください。」

永田さん「はい。まず一番はロボット牛舎です。パナソニックさんの自動換気システムを導入していて、夏場外気が37度でも牛舎内は30度ほどに保てています。牛たちのストレスを抑えるために、温度管理には特にこだわっています。7度の差は牛たちにとって本当に大きいんです。こうした細かな配慮が、健康な育成と良い乳質につながると考えています。」


記者「暑さ対策以外にも、ストレスケアで工夫していることはありますか？」

永田さん「去年は特に8～9月に分娩が集中してしまって、親牛の体調維持に苦労しました。そのため、ミネラル補給には特に気をつかいましたね。自然の牧草や飼料からできるだけ天然のミネラルを摂れるよう工夫し、化学物質に頼らない健康管理を目指しています。牛たちにとって自然体が一番良いと思っています。」


記者「この地域・久留米ならではの特徴も教えてください。」

永田さん「久留米は盆地で、夏の暑さが特に厳しいんです。そのため、暑熱対策は絶対に欠かせません。また、うちの周りは若い農家たちが頑張っている牧草地や水田に囲まれていて、自家製の飼料も豊富に使えます。地元の資源を活かした牧場運営ができるのは、この土地ならではの強みだと感じています。」


記者「永田さんが牧場を継いだきっかけについても教えてください。」

永田さん「高校卒業後、進学も考えたんですが、正直、これといって興味のあることがなかったんです。それなら、まずは家業に入ってみようと、なんとなく決めました。小さい頃から牛の世話をして、朝、自分で搾った牛乳を飲んで学校へ行っていました。本当に自然の中で生きてきた実感がありますね。」


記者「昔と比べて、今の牧場はどのくらい規模が大きくなりましたか？」

永田さん「昔は祖父が始めた小さな牧場で、30頭くらいでした。父の代でフリーストール式に改築し、80頭まで増えました。現在はロボット牛舎と本農場を合わせて170頭ほどを管理しています。久留米ではかなりの規模になりましたね。」


記者「大規模経営になって気をつけていることはありますか？」

永田さん「ロボット牛舎は全て電気に頼っていますので、停電や落雷でシステムが止まるリスクを常に意識しています。最悪の事態を想定して、毎日の作業も時間配分まで頭に入れながら動いています。リスク管理こそが経営の要だと日々実感しています。」


記者「今後、牧場をどのように発展させたいと考えていますか？」

永田さん「今の規模では自分一人ではとても無理なので、まずは魅力的な職場環境を作って、良いスタッフに入ってもらいたいですね。働きやすさ、給与、休暇も大切にしつつ、スタッフの夢やチャレンジ精神も応援していきたい。そして将来的には、海外、特にアジアでブルースカイファームの牧場を作ることが大きな目標です。」

Reporter: "Please tell us about the particularities of your farm."

Nagata: "Yes. First of all, we have a robotic cowshed. We have installed an automatic ventilation system from Panasonic, and even in the summer, even if the outside temperature is 37 degrees, we can keep the temperature inside the cowshed at about 30 degrees. We are particularly particular about temperature control to reduce stress for the cows. A difference of 7 degrees really makes a difference for the cows. We believe that this kind of detailed attention leads to healthy growth and good milk quality."


Reporter: "Apart from measures to deal with the heat, are there any other ways to care for stress?"

Nagata: "Last year, births were concentrated especially in August and September, so I had a hard time keeping the cows in good health. That's why I was particularly careful about mineral supplements. I try to get as many natural minerals as possible from natural pastures and feed, and aim for health management that doesn't rely on chemicals. I think that a natural state is best for the cows."


Reporter: "Please tell us about the unique features of this region, Kurume."

Nagata: "Kurume is a basin, and the heat in the summer is particularly severe. That's why heat protection is absolutely essential. Also, our house is surrounded by pastures and rice paddies where young farmers are working hard, so we can use an abundance of homemade feed. We use local farming methods, and we can use a lot of our own feed. I think that being able to operate a ranch that makes the most of the local resources is a strength that only this area has."


Reporter: "Please tell us what led you to take over the ranch."

Nagata: "After graduating from high school, I thought about continuing to college, but to be honest, there was nothing that really interested me. So I somehow decided that I would try to join the family business first. I took care of the cows from an early age, and in the morning I would drink the milk I milked myself before going to school. I really felt like I was living in nature."


Reporter: "How much bigger is the ranch now compared to before?"

Nagata "My grandfather started this small farm a long time ago, with about 30 cows. My father remodeled it to a free stall style, and the number of cows increased to 80. Now, we manage about 170 cows, including the robot barn and the main farm. It's a pretty big operation for Kurume."


Reporter: "Is there anything you pay attention to since you started managing such a large scale business?"

Nagata: "The robot barn is entirely dependent on electricity, so we are always aware of the risk of the system stopping due to a power outage or lightning strike. We assume the worst case scenario, and we work daily while keeping in mind how we allocate our time. I realize every day that risk management is the key to management. "

Reporter: "How do you want to develop the farm in the future?"

Nagata: "At the current scale, it's impossible for me to do it alone, so I want to first create an attractive working environment and recruit good staff. I want to value ease of work, salary, and holidays, while also supporting the dreams and challenging spirit of my staff. And in the future, my big goal is to set up a Blue Sky Farm farm overseas, especially in Asia."

トップは現場を走らない

記者「永田さん、おすすめのアイテムや道具があれば教えてください。」

永田さん「はい、1番におすすめしたいのは、やっぱりロボット搾乳機ですね。これがあることで、従来かかっていた朝夕それぞれ1～2時間、合計3～4時間の搾乳作業が、今ではパソコンのデータチェックだけ、15～20分程度で済むようになりました。その分、自分自身に“考える時間”が生まれたのが大きいです。作業だけに追われる日々から、未来を考える時間が持てるようになり、牛たちにも落ち着いた雰囲気を伝えられるようになったと感じています。」


記者「やはりトップは、ただ作業するだけじゃダメということですよね。」

永田さん「そうですね。作業に没頭しすぎると視野が狭くなります。農業や酪農に携わるトップこそ、現場から一歩引いて全体を見渡す役割が必要だと思います。従業員にも声をかけて、モチベーションを高めることが重要です。やっぱりリーダーの一言で、チームの空気はガラッと変わりますから。」


記者「ロボット搾乳機について、もう少し詳しく教えてもらえますか？」

永田さん「はい、うちで使っているロボットは、カメラが牛の乳房を認識して、4つの乳頭に色分けして自動でライナーを装着します。赤・青・黄色・緑といった色で区別され、正確に搾乳ができる仕組みです。技術はどんどん進化していて、将来的には3D、4Dの立体認識技術も取り入れられるかもしれません。もう“装着できない牛はいない”時代がすぐそこまで来ています。」


記者「すごい技術ですね！ただ、ロボットにもトラブルはあるんですか？」

永田さん「もちろんあります。何か異常が起きると、ロボットからスマホにアラームが飛んできます。なので、24時間いつでも対応できる体制は必要ですね。ただ、1年ほど運用すれば、起こりやすいトラブルも予測できるようになりますし、問題のある牛は家で手搾りに切り替えるなどの選択肢もあるので、今ではそれほど難しいことではないと感じています。」

Reporter: "Nagata, please tell us if there are any items or tools you would recommend."

Nagata: "Yes, the number one thing I would recommend is, of course, It's a robotic milking machine. With this, milking work that used to take 1-2 hours each morning and evening, totaling 3-4 hours, can now be done in 15-20 minutes just by checking the data on the computer. This has given me more time to think. Instead of being chased by work every day, I now have time to think about the future, and I feel I can convey a calm atmosphere to the cows.

Nagata: "That's right. If you get too absorbed in your work, your perspective will become narrow. I think that the top executives in the dairy industry and dairy farming industry need to step back and take a look at the overall picture. It is also important to speak to employees and motivate them. After all, one word from the leader can completely change the atmosphere in the team.


Reporter: "Could you tell me more about the robotic milking machine?"

Nagata: "Yes, the robot we use uses a camera to recognize the cow's udder, and automatically attaches liners to the four teats, which are color-coded. They are distinguished by colors such as red, blue, yellow, and green, and can be used to accurately milk the cow. Technology is constantly evolving, and in the future we will be able to use 3D, 4D stereoscopic recognition technology may also be adopted. The time when "there is no cow that cannot be fitted" is just around the corner.


Reporter: "That's amazing technology! But do robots have problems?"

Nagata: "Of course they do. If something abnormal occurs, the robot will send an alarm to your smartphone. So you need a system that can respond 24 hours a day. But after about a year of operation, you will be able to predict likely problems, and there is also the option of switching to hand milking at home for problematic cows, so I feel that it is not that difficult now. "

『人であれ』の酪農道

記者「永田さんはアソードを愛用されていると伺いました。導入のきっかけや特徴について教えてください。」

永田さん「はい。きっかけは昨年の8～9月、分娩が集中して30～40頭と大変な時期がありまして…。正直、通常の餌だけでは不安だったんです。そんな時にたまたまアソードの営業さんと出会い、天然由来のミネラル成分を聞いて、直感で『これだ』と思いました。自然なものにこだわっていた自分にはぴったりで、すぐに導入を決めました。まさにタイミングとご縁に感謝しています。」


記者「実際にアソードを使って、どんな効果がありましたか？」

永田さん「驚きましたね。例年通りの飼料・環境だったのに、アソード導入後、1頭あたりの乳量が40kgを超えたんです。特に10月導入、11月には明確な結果が出て、ロボット牛舎になって以来初めての数値でした。餌や飼育方法を変えたわけではないので、アソードのおかげとしか思えません。牛たちも順調に種付けに進めていて、導入して本当に良かったと実感しています。」


記者「アソードをどのくらいの量で使われたんですか？」

永田さん「基本の推奨は50gですが、僕は“新しいものを試すときは100g・2ヶ月継続”という自分ルールがあって、アソードも100gからスタートしました。その結果、通常33～35kgだった乳量が、38～39kg台、ついには40kgを超えるという、目を疑うような成果が出ました。やはり足りなかった栄養素が自然な形で補われたんだと思います。」


記者「アソード導入後、経営面でも変化はありましたか？」

永田さん「大きな変化がありました。特に堆肥ですね。これまで冬場は堆肥の発酵が進まずベッドに戻せなかったんですが、アソードを使ってから発酵が進み、きめ細かく温度も上がって、牛舎のベッドに戻せるようになりました。堆肥を買うコストが大幅に減り、月30万近く削減できたのは本当に大きいです。将来的には自社堆肥を商品化する夢も見えてきました。」


記者「アソードの効果について、さらに詳しくお聞きしたいのですが、蹄（ひづめ）に関する変化はありましたか？」

永田さん「実は、蹄病にもすごく良い影響が出ました。白帯病や趾皮膚炎（DD）といった蹄病が明らかに減ったんです。去年は蹄病の牛が23頭もいたのに、今年はたった6頭しかいない。これは正直、ものすごい変化でした。アソードを使い始めた以外、特別な治療もしてないので、直接証明はできないけれど、アソードの効果じゃないかと感じています。」


記者「蹄病が減ると、牛たちにどんな良い影響があるんでしょうか？」

永田さん「まず、蹄病は牛にとって大きなストレス要因です。痛みで立ち上がりたくなくなるから、飼槽に行かなくなり、エサの食い落ちが起こります。結果、栄養不足になって体力が落ちたり、繁殖成績にも悪影響が出たりします。さらに蹄病は、乳房炎のリスクを高めたり、最悪の場合は寝たきりになってしまうこともあります。だから、蹄が健康だと、牛の生産性全体がぐっと安定するんです。」


記者「蹄そのものの状態も変わりましたか？」

永田さん「はい、明らかに爪の形成が良くなりました。人間でも鉄分が不足すると爪に異常が出ますよね？ 牛も同じで、体の中のミネラルバランスが整うと、爪の質が変わるんです。硬くて丈夫な爪ができると、蹄病にかかりにくくなります。これもアソードのおかげじゃないかなと感じています。」


記者「それは酪農家にとっても、かなり嬉しい効果ですね。」

永田さん「本当にそうです。蹄病が減れば、治療コストも減るし、何より牛たちが元気でいてくれる。蹄病に悩んでいる酪農家さんは多いので、この効果はかなり喜ばれると思います。うちもこれで牛たちのストレスが減って、牛舎全体の雰囲気まで良くなりましたから。」


記者「すごいですね！最後に、永田さんの座右の銘を教えてください。」

永田さん「はい。『酪農家である前に、人であれ』です。どんなに良い仕事をしても、まずは人としての礼儀や誠実さが基本だと思っています。社長さんやリーダーを見ても、結局、元気な組織はトップが人として立派なんですよね。自分も、日々その基本を忘れずに酪農に向き合っていきたいと思っています。」

Reporter: "I heard that you use Asode, Mr. Nagata. Please tell us what prompted you to start using it and what its features are."

Nagata: "Yes. It started in August and September of last year, when we had a difficult time with 30 to 40 births in a concentrated period... Honestly, I was worried that regular food alone would not be enough. At that time, I happened to meet a sales representative from Asode, and when I heard about the natural mineral ingredients, I intuitively thought, 'This is it.' It was perfect for me, who is particular about natural products, so I immediately decided to start using it. I am truly grateful for the timing and the connection."


Reporter: "In fact, What effect did you get from using Asode when you started? ”

Nagata: “I was surprised. Even though the feed and environment were the same as usual, after introducing Asode, the milk production per cow exceeded 40kg. In particular, we introduced Asode in October and saw clear results in November, which was the first time since we had robotic cowsheds. We didn't change the feed or the breeding method, so I can only attribute it to Asode. The cows are also progressing smoothly with insemination, so I'm really glad that we introduced it.”


Reporter: “How much Asode did you use?”

Nagata: “The basic recommendation is 50g, but I recommend using 50g per cow.” I have a rule for myself that when I try something new, I give 100g for two months, so I started with 100g of Asode. As a result, my milk production, which was usually 33-35kg, increased to 38-39kg, and eventually exceeded 40kg, an unbelievable result. I think the nutrients that were missing were naturally replenished.


Reporter: "Have you seen any changes in terms of management since introducing Asode?"

Nagata: "There has been a big change. Especially the compost. Until now, the compost wouldn't ferment in the winter and I couldn't put it back on the bed, but since I started using Asode, it has fermented and the milk has become finer and more mellow. The temperature has risen and we can now return the cows to their beds in the barn. The cost of purchasing compost has been greatly reduced, and we have been able to reduce it by nearly 300,000 yen per month, which is really big. In the future, we can see our dream of commercializing our own compost. ”


Reporter: “I would like to ask you more about the effects of Asode. Have you noticed any changes in the hooves?”

Nagata: “Actually, it has had a very positive effect on hoof diseases. There has been a clear decrease in hoof diseases such as white band disease and digital dermatitis (DD). Last year, there were 23 cows with hoof disease, but this year there are only six. Honestly, this is a huge change. I haven't done any special treatment other than starting to use Asode, so I can't prove it directly, but I feel that it must be the effect of Asode. "


Reporter: "What positive effects does a reduction in hoof disease have on cows?"

Nagata: "First of all, hoof disease is a major stressor for cows. They don't want to get up because of the pain, so they stop going to the feed trough and eat less of their feed. As a result, they become malnourished and lose strength, which has a negative impact on their reproductive performance. Hoof disease also increases the risk of mastitis and, in the worst case, can lead to the cow becoming bedridden. So, if the hooves are healthy, the overall productivity of the cows becomes much more stable."


Reporter: "Has the condition of the hooves themselves changed?"

Nagata: "Yes, the formation of the nails has clearly improved. Even humans can develop abnormal nails if they are deficient in iron, right? The same goes for cows. When the mineral balance in their bodies is improved, the quality of their nails changes. When they have hard, strong nails, they are less likely to get hoof disease. I think this is also thanks to Asode."


Reporter: "That's a very welcome effect for dairy farmers."

Nagata: "That's true. If hoof disease decreases, treatment costs will also decrease, and more importantly, the cows will be healthier. There are many dairy farmers who are troubled by hoof disease, so I think this effect will be very welcome. Our cows' stress has decreased, and the atmosphere in the entire barn has improved."


Reporter: "That's amazing! Finally, please tell us your motto, Mr. Nagata."

Nagata: "Yes. It's "Be a person before being a dairy farmer." No matter how good a job you do, I think that courtesy and sincerity as a person are the basis. When you look at presidents and leaders, in the end, the top of a healthy organization is a good person. I want to face dairy farming without forgetting that basic principle every day."
