永田さん「私たちアドバンス社は、畜産業界において、まさに中心的な役割を担っております。地域畜産業の基盤となる大規模自給飼料生産を通じて、酪農家の経営改善を実現しているんです。約600筆の農地でトウモロコシを栽培し、高品質で安価な飼料を製造しています。さらに、地域連携を深め、酪農家だけでなく、和牛産業の振興にも寄与しています。女性の活躍も促進し、地域全体の畜産業を支える基盤を築いているんですよ。」


記者「アドバンス社の取り組みで、具体的にどのような成果がありますか？」

永田さん「具体的な成果としては、まず、我々の活動により飼料コストの削減と生産性の向上を実現しています。例えば、地域の酪農家には、年2回、ニーズに合わせた発酵TMRを提供し、それにより平均して1頭当たりの日乳量を県平均より1割増加させることに成功しました。さらに、育成牧場を併設することで、酪農家の負担軽減に貢献しており、和牛の子牛供給を開始することで、地域の和牛生産者へのサポートも行っています。女性の活躍に関しては、事務作業から生産管理まで、多岐にわたって女性を積極的に採用し、職場での多様性を実現している点も大きな成果の一つです。」

Reporter: "What role do you think Advance plays in the livestock industry?"

Nagata: "At Advance, we play a central role in the livestock industry. We improve the management of dairy farmers through large-scale self-sufficient feed production, which is the foundation of the local livestock industry. We grow corn on about 600 plots of farmland and produce high-quality, inexpensive feed. We also deepen our ties with the region, contributing not only to dairy farmers but also to the promotion of the Japanese beef industry. We also promote the active participation of women, building a foundation to support the livestock industry in the entire region."

Reporter: "What specific results have Advance's efforts achieved?" "

Nagata: "First of all, our activities have helped us to reduce feed costs and improve productivity. For example, we provide local dairy farmers with fermented TMR tailored to their needs twice a year, which has enabled us to increase daily milk production per cow by 10% on average compared to the prefectural average. Furthermore, by establishing a breeding farm, we have helped to reduce the burden on dairy farmers, and by starting to supply Wagyu calves, we are also supporting local Wagyu producers. As for the active participation of women, we are actively recruiting women in a wide range of roles, from clerical work to production management, and we have achieved diversity in the workplace, which is another major achievement."

記者「永田さんの取り組みで注目される点は何ですか？」

永田さん「私たちの取り組みの最大の特徴は、大規模な自給飼料生産を通じて、高品質で安価な飼料を提供し、農家の経営改善に貢献している点です。さらに、ICT技術を活用した効率的な農地管理や、地域連携を強化することで、酪農だけでなく和牛産業の振興にも寄与しています。これらの取り組みが地域畜産業の持続性向上に貢献していると自負しています」


記者「地域や他の農家との連携についての具体的な例を教えてください」

永田さん「具体的な例としては、地域のキャトルブリーディングセンターと連携し、黒毛和種の受精卵を移植した和牛子牛の供給を行っていることが挙げられます。これにより、地域の和牛生産者に対して高品質な子牛を安定供給し、地域畜産業の振興に貢献しています。また、新規就農者への支援や農地集積による耕作放棄地の解消など、地域全体の農業基盤を強化するための取り組みも積極的に行っています」

永田さん「当社の今後の展望は、さらなる地域畜産業の発展への貢献にあります。具体的には、作業受託面積およびTMR製造量の拡大、育成牧場の預託頭数の増加を図り、さらに新規就農者への飼料供給による支援を強化していきます。これにより、酪農家の経営延長への支援が可能となり、地域の畜産業全体の持続可能な発展を促進していきたいと考えています。地域での耕作放棄地を減らし、地域農業の活性化にも寄与していく予定です。」

Nagata: "This award is the culmination of the efforts of not only us, but the entire region. In the future, we plan to support more farmers in managing their farms sustainably, while improving management efficiency and techniques, including by providing feed to new farmers. Furthermore, we would like to increase the competitiveness of the entire regional agriculture by contributing to the strengthening of the region's self-sufficient feed base and the development of the livestock industry."


Reporter: "What is noteworthy about Mr. Nagata's efforts?"

Nagata: "The biggest feature of our efforts is that we provide high-quality, inexpensive feed through large-scale self-sufficient feed production, which contributes to improving farmers' management. Furthermore, by utilizing ICT technology for efficient farmland management and strengthening regional cooperation, we are contributing to the promotion of not only dairy farming but also the Wagyu beef industry. We are proud that these efforts are contributing to improving the sustainability of the regional livestock industry."


Reporter: "Regarding cooperation with the region and other farmers" "

Nagata: "One specific example is that we work with a local cattle breeding center to supply Japanese beef calves implanted with fertilized eggs from Japanese black cattle. This allows us to steadily supply high-quality calves to local Japanese beef producers, contributing to the promotion of the local livestock industry. We are also actively working to strengthen the agricultural foundation of the entire region, such as supporting new farmers and eliminating abandoned farmland through farmland consolidation."

Nagata: "Our future prospects are to contribute to the further development of the local livestock industry. Specifically, we will expand the area of ​​work we undertake and the amount of TMR production, increase the number of cattle entrusted to our breeding farms, and further strengthen our support for new farmers by supplying feed. This will enable us to support dairy farmers in extending their business, and we hope to promote the sustainable development of the local livestock industry as a whole. 記者「最後に、永田さんの座右の銘や、日々の業務を行う上で心がけていることはありますか？」

永田さん「私の座右の銘は、「真剣だと知恵が出る」です。農業を行う上で、日々様々な困難に直面しますが、真剣に取り組むことで、これまで見えなかった解決策や新たなアイデアが浮かんでくるんです。この言葉は、私たちの牧場で働くすべての人々にとっても共有される価値観であり、一生懸命に仕事に取り組むことの大切さを示しています。成功した時はみんなのおかげ、失敗した時は自分の責任と捉え、常に前向きに努力を続けることが、私たちの牧場を支える基本的な姿勢です。」


記者「その座右の銘を選んだ理由は何ですか？」

永田さん「この言葉を選んだのは、農業においても、生活においても、真剣に取り組む姿勢が最も重要だと考えるからです。農業は予測不可能な要素が多く、計画通りに進まないこともしばしばあります。しかし、真剣に取り組むことで、思わぬ知恵やアイデアが生まれ、困難を乗り越えることができるんです。この座右の銘は、私自身の経験に基づいており、日々の業務で直面する様々な課題に立ち向かう勇気とインスピレーションを与えてくれます。」

永田さん「農業の未来は、革新的な技術の導入と、地域社会や消費者との連携強化にかかっています。私たちは、持続可能な農業を目指し、エコフレンドリーな方法で生産活動を行っていく必要があります。また、消費者に対して、私たちがどのように食材を生産しているのかを透明に伝え、信頼を築いていくことも重要です。真剣に農業に取り組むことで、新しい挑戦を乗り越え、より良い未来を築いていくことができると信じています。」

Reporter: "Please tell us about the mentors you respect and the people you aspire to be."

Nagata: "The people who guide me in farming are Toshiharu Itooka and former JA employee Nakamura. Itooka is a senior who everyone in our generation respects, and he has had a great influence on me not only in terms of agricultural techniques but also as a person. As for Nakamura, even though he is a JA employee, he is a close friend to us farmers and has always been generous in supporting us and encouraging us to take on new challenges. Thanks to them, we have been able to make great progress not only in revitalizing local agriculture but also in our daily work."


Reporter: "Finally, Nagata, do you have a motto, or something you keep in mind when doing your daily work?"

Nagata: "My motto is, 'Being serious leads to wisdom.' In farming, we face various difficulties every day, but by working seriously, solutions and new ideas that we had not seen before come to mind. This phrase is a value shared by all the people who work on our ranch, and shows the importance of working hard. When we succeed, we owe it to everyone, and when we fail, we take responsibility for it. Always keep working hard and stay positive. This is the basic attitude that supports our farm.


Reporter: Why did you choose that motto?

Nagata: I chose this phrase because I think that the most important thing is to work seriously, both in agriculture and in life. Agriculture has many unpredictable elements, and things often don't go as planned. However, by working seriously, unexpected wisdom and ideas are born and we can overcome difficulties. This motto is based on my own experience and gives me the courage and inspiration to face the various challenges I face in my daily work.


Reporter: What do you think about the future of agriculture?

Nagata: The future of agriculture depends on the introduction of innovative technology and strengthening cooperation with local communities and consumers. We need to aim for sustainable agriculture and carry out production activities in an eco-friendly way. It is also important to be transparent with consumers about how we produce our ingredients and build trust. I believe that by working seriously in agriculture, we can overcome new challenges and build a better future.

記者「風間さんの牧場の繁殖成績が優れていると聞きましたが、具体的にどのような技術や工夫をしているのですか？」

風間さん「私たちの牧場では、分娩後の牛の健康管理に特に力を入れています。特に、分娩後すぐの立ち上がりを良くするために、分娩後の一般的な病気を未然に防ぐ予防策を施しています。例えば、適切な栄養管理と予防的な薬の投与を行い、病気のリスクを極力減らしています。これにより、牛が健康で生産性が高まり、結果として繁殖成績を向上させています。」


記者「分娩後の健康管理で特に注意している病気はありますか？」

風間さん「はい、分娩後によく見られる病気には、低カルや変胃、ケトーシスがあります。これらの病気にかかると、牛が立ち上がれなくなったり、餌を食べなくなることがあります。これらの病気を事前に防ぐために、カルシウムや酸化マグネシウムを適切に投与しています。分娩前後にこれらの栄養素をしっかりと管理することで、病気の発生率を下げ、牛の健康を守っています。」


記者「オール購入についてはどのような理由からですか？」

風間さん「私たちの牧場では、労働力と餌を生産するための土地が限られているため、全ての飼料を外部から購入しています。これにより、より専門的な管理に集中することができ、牛の健康と生産性の向上に直結しています。飼料購入には確かにコストがかかりますが、私たちの牧場では、生産性の向上に成功しています。例えば、年間の乳量平均が36kg出ており、また繁殖成績もほぼ一年一産できてきています。このように、初期投資は大きいものの、結果として高い生産性を実現しているため、経済的にも成り立っています。」

Reporter: "I heard that your farm has excellent reproductive performance. What specific techniques and ideas do you use?"

Kazama: "At our farm, we put a lot of effort into managing the health of our cows after calving. In particular, we take preventive measures to prevent common post-calving diseases in order to help them get back on their feet quickly after calving. For example, we provide proper nutrition and administer preventive medicine to minimize the risk of disease. This leads to healthier cows and higher productivity, which in turn improves reproductive performance."


Reporter: "Are there any diseases you pay particular attention to in your post-calving health management?"

Kazama: "Yes, some common diseases after calving are hypocaloric, abnormal stomach, and ketosis. If a cow gets these diseases, it may not be able to stand up or stop eating. We take measures to prevent these diseases in advance. To prevent this, we administer calcium and magnesium oxide appropriately. By carefully managing these nutrients before and after calving, we reduce the incidence of disease and protect the health of the cows. ”

Reporter: “What is the reason for purchasing all the feed?”

Kazama: “At our farm, we have limited labor and land for producing feed, so we purchase all of our feed from outside. This allows us to focus on more specialized management, which directly leads to improved cow health and productivity. Although purchasing feed certainly costs money, our farm has been successful in improving productivity. For example, the average annual milk yield is 36 kg, and the breeding performance has been almost one birth per year. In this way, although the initial investment is large, the result is high productivity, so it is economically viable.”

記者「おすすめのアイテムや道具はありますか？」

風間さん「暑熱対策として高圧洗浄機が非常に役立っています。夏場に牛に直接水をかけることで、涼しさを提供しています。また、屋根には遮熱塗料を塗ることで、上からの熱を軽減し、牛が快適に過ごせるようにしています。これらの対策は、牛のストレスを減らし、健康を維持するのに重要です。」

Reporter: "If you were to rate the condition of your cows, how many points would you give them?"

Kazama: "I would confidently rate them 90 points. This is mainly because breeding is going well and we are able to maintain a stable milk yield. We focus on health and nutrition management after calving, and take thorough preventative measures. These efforts support good breeding results and milk yields."


Reporter: "What areas need to be improved to turn that 90 into 100 points?"

Kazama: "Further improvement areas include increasing milk yields. Recently, we have been reviewing the quality of feed and training our cows to be more capable. By introducing high-quality cows, we have established a foundation for increasing milk production. We are now at the stage of increasing milk production further on this foundation. Increasing milk production without compromising reproductive performance is a major challenge for the future.

Reporter: "Are there any items or tools you would recommend?"

Kazama: "A high-pressure washer is very useful as a measure against the heat. In the summer, we spray water directly on the cows to keep them cool. We also paint the roof with heat-resistant paint to reduce heat from above and make the cows comfortable. These measures are important for reducing stress for the cows and maintaining their health."

記者「新規就農者へのメッセージや、過去に失敗した経験から学んだ教訓を教えてください。」

風間さん「やらかした経験はありますね。特に、乳量を増やそうとして調子に乗り過ぎた結果、牛が痩せてしまったことがあります。大切なのは、牛の健康を最優先に考えること。つまり、カウコンフォート、牛への配慮を怠らないことが重要です。そして、牛の日々の状態を見極める観察力を磨くこと。細かい変化に気づき、適切な対応をすることが、良い繁殖成績への道です。」


記者「地域との関係構築についてはどう感じていますか？」

風間さん「地域の人々との関係も非常に大切にしています。新規就農者にとって、地域との良好な関係は、様々な支援や協力を得る上で不可欠です。農業は個人の努力だけではなく、周囲の人々との協力が成功への鍵となります。」


記者「風間さんの座右の銘や仕事に対する姿勢を教えてください。」

風間さん「私の座右の銘は「めんどくさがらずにやる」です。宮崎駿監督が言っていたことで「いいアニメを作るためにはものすごくめんどくさい作業がたくさんある。それを1つ1つきっちりやっていくことがいいアニメを作る秘訣」と言っていて、仕事も一緒だと思ったんですよね。農業には地道で、時にはめんどくさいと感じる作業もたくさんあります。しかし、その一つ一つを丁寧にこなすことで、良い結果が得られます。例えば、分娩後の管理など、大変な作業も念入りに行うことが、牧場全体の品質を高め、良い繁殖成績につながります。」


記者「新規就農者に伝えたいことはありますか？」

風間さん「はい、飼料に関してです。経費節約のために飼料をケチることは絶対に避けるべきです。良質な飼料を十分に与えることで、牛は健康を維持し、良い成績を返してくれます。結局、良い繁殖成績を維持するためには、牛の健康が土台になります。」

Reporter: "What message do you have for new farmers? What lessons have you learned from your past failures?"

Kazama: "I've made some mistakes. In particular, I got too carried away trying to increase milk production, and my cows ended up getting skinny. The most important thing is to prioritize the health of your cows. In other words, it's important to pay attention to cow comfort and your cows. And to hone your observation skills to determine the daily condition of your cows. Noticing small changes and taking appropriate action is the path to good breeding results."


Reporter: "How do you feel about building relationships with the local community?"

Kazama: "I also value relationships with the local people. For new farmers, good relationships with the local community are essential to gain various forms of support and cooperation. Agriculture is not just about individual effort, but cooperation with the people around you is the key to success."


Reporter: "What is your motto and your attitude toward work?"

Kazama: "My motto is 'Don't be lazy and do it.' Director Hayao Miyazaki once said, "There are a lot of extremely tedious tasks to make a good anime. The secret to making a good anime is to do each one of them carefully." I thought that it was the same with work. Farming requires a lot of steady work, and sometimes it can feel tedious. However, by doing each one carefully, good results can be obtained. For example, doing difficult tasks such as post-calving management carefully will improve the quality of the entire farm and lead to good breeding results. "

Reporter: "Is there anything you would like to tell new farmers?"

Kazama: "Yes, it's about feed. You should never skimp on feed to save money. Giving cows enough high-quality feed will keep them healthy and give you good results. In the end, the health of the cows is the foundation for maintaining good breeding results."

宮本さん「はい、うちの牧場では、全てがバランスが鍵となります。牛の健康状態、乳量、そして繁殖能力のバランスを見極め、必要に応じて調整を加えることで最適な状態を保っています。乳成分や体調、乳量、さらには便の状態や食事の選り好みまで、全ての要素を総合的に評価し、細かな調整を行うことで、牛たちの健康を維持し続けています。特別な魔法のようなことはしていませんが、日々の観察と調整がうちの強みです。」


記者「最近、牛の状態が改善された具体的な例を教えていただけますか？」

宮本さん「今年は特に、乳量の増加に成功しました。春になると乳量が一気に増える傾向にあり、それに対応するため飼料のメイズ（とうもろこし）の割合を増やすなど、エネルギーの補給を意識しています。その結果、嚢腫が大幅に減少し、繁殖も順調に行われています。毎年のように試行錯誤していますが、今年は過去最高の成果を実感しております。」


記者「飼料にメイズを使用する理由は何ですか？」

宮本さん「メイズはエネルギーが豊富で、牛たちにとっても大変良い飼料です。また、輸入品であることから価格は多少上がることもありますが、品質が安定しており、鮮度が落ちたりカビが生える心配が少ない点も大きなメリットです。」

記者「最近、獣医からの指摘で改善したことはありますか？」

宮本さん「実は、直接的な獣医からの指摘での改善は少ないです。しかし、獣医とは密接に連携を取りながら、特に繁殖に関しては共に取り組んでいます。例えば、受精卵移植の際には獣医の専門的な意見を仰ぎながら進めています。目から鱗のような大きな発見は少ないですが、日々の細かな連携が大きな力となっています。」

Reporter: "Are there any specific initiatives you have taken regarding your breeding methods that emphasize balance at your farm?"

Miyamoto: "Yes, balance is the key to everything on our farm. We maintain optimal conditions by determining the balance between the cows' health, milk production, and reproductive ability, and making adjustments as necessary. We continue to maintain the health of our cows by comprehensively evaluating all factors, including the milk composition, physical condition, milk production, and even the condition of their stool and food preferences, and making detailed adjustments. We don't do anything special or magical, but our strength lies in our daily observation and adjustments."


Reporter: "Can you give us a specific example of a recent improvement in the condition of our cows?"

Miyamoto: "This year in particular, we have been successful in increasing milk production. In the spring, milk production tends to increase dramatically, so in order to deal with this, we are conscious of replenishing energy, such as increasing the proportion of maize (corn) in the feed. As a result, As a result, the number of cysts has decreased significantly, and breeding is going well. We try and error every year, but this year we feel that we have achieved the best results ever. ”


Reporter: “Why do you use maize as feed?”

Miyamoto: “Maize is rich in energy and is a very good feed for cows. Also, since it is an imported product, the price may be slightly higher, but the quality is stable and there is little risk of it losing freshness or growing mold, which is a major advantage.”

Miyamoto: “Actually, there have been few improvements as a result of direct advice from a veterinarian. However, we work closely with veterinarians, especially when it comes to breeding. For example, when it comes to embryo transfer, we ask for the veterinarian’s expert opinion. We don’t often make big discoveries like that, but the daily detailed cooperation is a great help.”

For example, we can refer to examples of farms that are achieving higher than average milk yields. The key is to understand how they balance that and how they do it. You have to keep learning and trying all the time. ”

Reporter: “Any items you would recommend to help streamline or simplify your work?”

Miyamoto: “Yes, one thing that we find very useful is a device that can easily cut rolls. It is attached to the front of the tractor and is very useful, especially when dealing with feed with low moisture content. When it is difficult to tear by hand, this device allows us to efficiently feed the feed into the mixer. This device also reduces the strain on the tractor and greatly improves work efficiency. It was a very worthwhile investment for us.”

記者「師匠や目標にしている人物はいますか？」

宮本さん「私の目標としているのは父です。父は牛に関しては、とても情熱的で、そのために「変態」と表現することもありますが、その一途さは理解できます。実は、北海道の牧場で修行を積んでから熊本で牧場を立ち上げた経歴を持っており、そうした経験を通じて培った知識と技術を、私は尊敬しています。私は父のようになりたいわけではありませんが、彼から多くを学び、自分なりの飼育方法を見つけていきたいですね。」

記者「今後の目標や目指している点はありますか？」

宮本さん「私の座右の銘は「適度に怠ける」ことです。必要な時には全力を尽くしますが、人生や仕事においてはバランスが大切だと考えています。仕事だけでなく家族との時間や自分の趣味にも時間を割くことで、充実した生活を送ることが目標です。私は美容師を経験した後に牧場経営に携わるようになりましたが、その多様な経験が今の私を形作っています。挫折や挑戦を経て、現在に至るまでの経験は、牧場運営においても柔軟な考え方を持つことに役立っています。まわりには多くの人たちが支えてくれているおかげで、今があります。」

Reporter: "Do you have a mentor or someone you look up to?"

Miyamoto: "My role model is my father. He is very passionate about cows, and sometimes people call him a "pervert," but I can understand his dedication. In fact, he trained at a farm in Hokkaido before starting a farm in Kumamoto, and I respect the knowledge and skills he gained through those experiences. I don't want to be like my father, but I would like to learn a lot from him and find my own way of raising cows."

Reporter: "Do you have any future goals or aims?"

Miyamoto: "My motto is to be moderately lazy. I do my best when necessary, but I think balance is important in life and work. My goal is to live a fulfilling life by devoting time not only to work but also to spending time with my family and my hobbies. I started working as a hairdresser before getting involved in farm management, and those diverse experiences have shaped who I am today. Through setbacks and challenges, my experiences up to now have helped me to have a flexible way of thinking, even in farm management. I am where I am today thanks to the support of so many people around me.”
