先代から伝わる酪農術

『農業をするなら酪農と決めていた』、平成８年から約３０年近く熊本県阿蘇市で洞田貫牧場を経営する洞田貫優造さん。そのキッカケは優造さんの祖父が宮崎で酪農をしていた時代まで遡ります。
祖父の影響で幼いころから作業に参加しており、『どの作業も好きです(笑)』と今でも酪農の楽しさをかみしめながら仕事に取り組む姿勢は、祖父の時代から築き上げられた酪農術が生み出したものの一つであるそうです。
現在はご家族、従業員の方々と一緒に牧場を経営しており、息子の雄大さんが後継ぎとして今後も洞田貫家の酪農術を引き継いでいきます。

"I had decided that if I was going to farm, it would be dairy farming," says Horadanuki Yuzo, who has been running Horadanuki Farm in Aso City, Kumamoto Prefecture for nearly 30 years since 1996. The opportunity dates back to the time when Yuzo's grandfather was a dairy farmer in Miyazaki.
Influenced by his grandfather, he has been involved in the work since he was a child, and even now, he says, "I like every task (laughs)," and his attitude toward work while savoring the fun of dairy farming is one of the products of the dairy farming techniques that have been built up since his grandfather's time.
Currently, he runs the farm with his family and employees, and his son Yudai is his successor and will continue to carry on the Horadanuki family's dairy farming techniques.

恵まれた阿蘇の大地を活かした牧草作り

洞田貫牧場の牧草は合計１００町からなる広大な土地を利用して作られています。中でも、山で40町ほどの土地から作られる牧草を収穫する際は、凹凸な道での作業となるため命がけの作業が10日～14日間続きます。『自分で作れば品質管理もできる』と優造さん。乳酸菌を入れ発酵させることで、食いつきも良くなり消化も上がります。胃腸にもよく働くため、乳酸菌を牧草に入れることは洞田貫牧場にとって鉄則だそうです。しかし、発酵をしすぎると下痢など悪影響を及ぼすため見極める力が重要となります。
​阿蘇でやるからには土地を利用するをモットーに、恵まれた環境を最大限に活用しています。

The grass at Horadanuki Farm is grown on a vast expanse of land totaling 100 cho. In particular, when harvesting grass from about 40 cho of land in the mountains, the work is done on uneven roads, and it takes 10 to 14 days, which is life-threatening work. "If we make it ourselves, we can control the quality," says Yuzo. By adding lactic acid bacteria and fermenting it, the cattle will eat it better and digest it better. It also has a positive effect on the stomach and intestines, so adding lactic acid bacteria to the grass is an ironclad rule at Horadanuki Farm. However, too much fermentation can have adverse effects such as diarrhea, so it is important to be able to judge the situation.
​Our motto is to use the land when we do it in Aso, and we make the most of our blessed environment.

造られる循環型酪農

畜産は私たちの命の源であり、なくてはならないものとなっています。そんな健康の元を支える職業に携わっている優造さんにとって、もう一つ大きな役割があるそうです。
それは、国土の保全です。もし畜産が衰退すれば草が荒れ、山が荒れてしまいます。
​毎年行われている野焼きにも参加しており、阿蘇の恵まれた自然を保ち続けることが使命であると常に意識しているそうです。その意識は牧草を自己管理することや、堆肥を利用することにもつながっており、自然の循環を担うことはこれからも洞田貫牧場の大切な役割であり続けます。
長時間に及ぶ作業や、危険な作業、その他の活動にも積極的に取り組む多忙な毎日を過ごしている優造さんの原動力は、”酪農が好き”という気持ちだそうです。
偶然ではなく必然的に造られる循環型酪農をこれからも実践していきます。

Livestock farming is the source of our lives and is indispensable. Yuzo, who works in a profession that supports the source of our health, says he has another important role to play.
That is the conservation of the country's land. If livestock farming declines, the grass will become overgrown and the mountains will be destroyed.
He also participates in the annual burning of fields, and is always conscious that it is his mission to continue to preserve the blessed nature of Aso. This awareness has led to the self-management of pasture grass and the use of compost, and supporting the natural cycle will continue to be an important role for Horatanuki Farm.
Yuzo spends busy days actively working on long hours, dangerous tasks, and other activities, but what motivates him is his love of dairy farming.
He will continue to practice circular dairy farming, which is created by necessity, not by chance.

洞田貫牧場の水は赤水と呼ばれる天然ミネラル豊富な水となっています。
​ボーリング設備を取り付け、阿蘇の大地が作る特有の水を牛たちに与え、健康状態をより良いものにしています。

搾乳ロボット

洞田貫牧場では３００頭の乳牛を管理するために搾乳ロボットを二台導入しています。
24時間稼働しており、一台で一日最大６０頭搾乳できます。
​最先端技術と伝統の酪農術で常により良いものを作り続けます。

Horadanuki Farm has introduced two milking robots to manage its 300 dairy cows.
They operate 24 hours a day, and each robot can milk up to 60 cows a day.
They continue to produce better products by combining cutting-edge technology with traditional dairy farming techniques.

こだわりの牧草

前述にあった通り、洞田貫牧場の牧草は自己管理されています。
​乳酸菌を入れ発酵することはこだわりであるそうです。
​ランク付けも独自で行っており、どの牛にどの比率でどの草を与えるのか常に考えています。
​画像には収まらないほどのロールの数は驚きです。
