預託牧場の飼料と献身

記者「預託牧場というと人の牛を預かるという通常とは違うこだわりがありますよね！中でも飼料についてはどんなこだわりを持たれているのですか？」

淵田さん「私たちは栄養管理にとても力を入れており、「育成20」という森永の配合飼料を使用しています。これは主に離乳後の牛のためのものですね！妊娠後期の牛には「MD18」という別の配合飼料を与えています。また、地元の酪農家や牧草を余らせている農家から牧草を購入することで、必要な栄養を牛たちに与えていますよ！」


記者「タイミングに応じて使う配合飼料を変えているんですね！牛を預かる上での難しさなども教えてください！」

淵田さん「農家さんに納得していただきながら健康管理を進めていくと言うところが難しいと思います！異常がない状態の牛も、入牧してからストレスや病気に見舞われることがあります。そのため、定期的なワクチン接種や予防接種は欠かせませんね。ですがそれでも流産などの事故は避けられません。特に未経産牛は事故率が高いため、預けていただいている農家さんに対してリスクを認識してもらう必要があります。牛が集団で飼われる環境になるため、群れの中で弱っていくことも起きてしまいます。綿密な観察を行うことで早期発見できるようにしています。」


記者「日々の牛舎チェックがポイントになると言うことですね！健康状態は季節要因なども大きく関わりそうですね。」

淵田さん「季節に応じた対処も重要ですよ！夏は暑さからくるストレスが流産の原因となりやすく、冬には寒さが子牛の下痢や風邪の原因となります。そのため、適切な量の飼料を与えて、必要に応じた治療を行いながら、日々の管理を怠らないよう努めています。このような環境の中で種付けに最適な時期を見極め、細かく農家さんに情報共有しています。退牧前は獣医の鑑定を通じて健康状態を確認し、安全と健康を優先した上で農家さんに返すようにしています。」

Reporter: "When you say consignment farm, you're talking about something a little different from the norm, because you're taking care of people's cows! What are your particular concerns about the feed?"

Fuchida: "We put a lot of effort into nutritional management, and we use Morinaga's compound feed called "Ikusei 20". This is mainly for cows after weaning! For cows in the later stages of pregnancy, we feed them a different compound feed called "MD18". We also buy grass from local dairy farmers and farmers who have surplus grass, so we can give the cows the nutrition they need! "

Reporter: "So you change the compound feed you use depending on the timing! Please tell us about the difficulties of taking care of cows!"

Fuchida: "I think it's difficult to proceed with health management while getting the farmers to agree! Even cows that are healthy can become stressed or sick after coming to pasture. That's why regular vaccinations and immunizations are essential. However, miscarriages and other accidents are still inevitable. Heifers in particular have a high accident rate, so it's important to make the farmers who are taking care of them aware of the risks. Because the cows are kept in groups, they can become weaker within the herd. Careful observation is essential. By doing this, we are able to detect problems early."


Reporter: "So daily barn checks are key! It seems that seasonal factors also have a big impact on the health of the calves."

Fuchida: "It's also important to deal with the seasons according to the season! In summer, stress from the heat can easily cause miscarriage, and in winter, the cold can cause diarrhea and colds in calves. For this reason, we give them the appropriate amount of feed, treat them as needed, and make sure to not neglect daily management. In this environment, we determine the best time to breed them and share detailed information with the farmers. Before they are removed from pasture, we have a veterinarian check their health and return them to the farmers with safety and health as a priority."

農家の誇りと原動力 - 『牛が1番』という生き様

記者「淵田さんの座右の銘を教えてください。」

淵田さん「「牛が1番」ですかね。牛が私たちの仕事の中心なので！畑の仕事も大切ですが、健康な牛がいなければ始まらないんです。例えば、扇風機が壊れた時はほかの作業をしていても牛たちが暑さでストレスを感じないように真っ先に修理しました。農家さんの牧場にいく時にたまに思うんですけど、自家用車やトラクターにとてもお金をかけている人がいます。けれど、牛舎に行くとボロボロだったり、だいぶ古いバルクを使っている農家さんがいたりするんです。どこにお金をかけてもいいと思うんですが本当はそっちにお金をかけるべきなんじゃないかなと思いますね。そういう気持ちが後々健康な牛に繋がっていくと思うんです。」

記者「淵田さんの牛への愛が伝わってきます！淵田さんは牛が好きで畜産業界に入ったんですか？」

淵田さん「もともとは建設業にいたんです。ですが以前の会社が倒産しちゃって。そこで知人からたまたま声がかかって20歳の時に畜産業界に転職し、今に至ります。経験を積むうちに牛への愛情も深まっていきました！」


記者「全く異業種からの転職だったのですね！？スタッフの方はどうなんですか？」

淵田さん「今いるスタッフは、最短で1年、最長で3年の経験者ばかりです。最近は若いスタッフが多くなりましたが、それでも日々の観察を怠らず、健康な牛を育てています。私たちの仕事は常に観察が大切で、小さな変化にもすぐに気づけるよう教育しています。」

Reporter: "What is your motto, Mr. Fuchida?"

Mr. Fuchida: "I guess it's 'Cows come first'. Because cows are the center of our work! Work in the fields is important, but without healthy cows, nothing can begin. For example, when the electric fan broke, I fixed it first so that the cows wouldn't feel stressed by the heat even if I was doing other work. When I visit farmers' ranches, I sometimes think that some people spend a lot of money on their cars and tractors. However, when I go to the cowshed, some farmers use very old bulk cars or are in a dilapidated condition. I think it's fine to spend money anywhere, but I think that in reality, we should be spending money on this. I think that this kind of attitude will lead to healthy cows in the future. ”

Reporter: “You can really feel Mr. Fuchida’s love for cows! Did you enter the livestock industry because you love cows?”

Mr. Fuchida: “I was originally in the construction industry. But my previous company went bankrupt. Then, by chance, an acquaintance asked me to change jobs and I changed jobs to the livestock industry at the age of 20, and I've been here ever since. As I gained experience, my love for cows deepened!”

Reporter: “So you changed jobs from a completely different industry!? What about your staff?”

Mr. Fuchida: “All of our current staff have at least one year of experience, and at most three years. Recently, we have more young staff, but we still make sure to observe every day and raise healthy cows. Observation is always important in our work, and we educate them to be able to notice even the smallest changes right away.”

永田浩徳という名の指針

記者「淵田さんが尊敬している方はどなたですか？」

淵田さん「たくさんいますが一番は株式会社アドバンスの社長、永田浩徳さんですね。彼の経営する育成牧場は300頭規模で、社長の考え方や環境が素晴らしいんですよね！まず彼の牧場では、状態の悪い牛の預け入れは断っているそうです。そしてその農家に行って状態の悪い牛を作らないように酪農家の視点でアドバイスまでしてくれるそうです。」


記者「なるほど！酪農家の経験を踏まえたアドバイスまでされているんですね！他にもお聞かせください。」

淵田さん「牛舎もストレスや病気が少ない飼育環境になっています。うちも新しい牛舎を立てようと思っていて通気システムはアドバンスさんの牛舎を参考にさせてもらっているんですよ！それだけ学べることも多く、考え方や経営のやり方まで尊敬していますね！」

Reporter: "Who do you respect, Mr. Fuchida?"

Mr. Fuchida: "There are many, but the most important one is Mr. Hironori Nagata, the president of Advance Co., Ltd. He runs a breeding farm with 300 head of cattle, and the president's way of thinking and environment are wonderful! First of all, at his farm, he refuses to take in cows that are in poor condition. He even goes to the farm and gives advice from a dairy farmer's perspective so that they don't produce cows in poor condition."

Mr. Fuchida: "The cowshed is also designed to reduce stress and disease. We are planning to build a new cowshed, and we are using Advance's cowshed as a reference for the ventilation system! There is a lot to learn from him, and I respect his way of thinking and management!"
